Guardrail Safety Testing, Inspection & Certification Services
Guardrails and handrails are commonly used to provide a collective edge protection for safely Working at Height. They can work as either permanent or temporary edge protection systems, but their role in worker safety cannot be overstated.
Our team will inspect and test all critical components of the guardrail systems installed at your site to ensure that they're fit for purpose. This will involve a thorough check of all fittings, fixture points and fixing bolts, and our trained team will check correct PPE is available for use when workers come to use any installed systems.
Guardrails serve as fall protection systems, providing safety to workers using ladders or scaffolding or working on a roof. They need compliance testing at least once a year to ensure the safety equipment installed is functioning correctly and meets all relevant regulations and BS EN standards.
The Working at Height Regulations (WAHR) 2005 & The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 both state that such equipment should be inspected and maintained by a competent person at least every 12 months. This will ensure compliance and provide peace of mind to workers who rely on edge protection equipment such as this to carry out their work effectively.
Altus Safety provides a full inspection, testing, certification and maintenance service for existing working at height equipment. Altus Safety test and inspect freestanding and permanent guardrails and handrails in line with BS 13700:2021 and PUWER 1998 regulations.

As fall protection systems are recommended to be tested once every 12 months, we also offer an inspection services package, where we keep a database of our clients and send out a reminder 2 months prior to its due date to arrange a suitable date and time.
If, of course, you notice any issues before this time that could compromise the structural integrity of the guardrail systems and compromise worker safety, then contact us for guardrail testing and maintenance work ASAP.

Our operatives are all trained to carry out compliance testing with a range of height safety systems - and each one is governed by different regulations to ensure relevance and worker protection.
